Fernando Botero wraps up his birthday celebration in Pietrasanta. The Columbian master’s exhibition of drawings, paintings and sculptures ends Sunday, the 2nd of September, 2102.
“Fernando Botero: disegnatore e scultore” Botero’s massive exhibition has taken up the museums, streets and Piazzas of Pietrasanta for the better part of the summer. Six monumental bronzes are displayed in the City of Art’s main Piazza, in the Sala dei Putti in the Chiostro one can see a large selection of drawings dedicated to the Corrida and the circus. The show was expertly curated by Alessandro Romanini who chose and presented the 80 works on display, giving each the breathing space it deserves. The exhibition has been a huge success for Pietrasanta and for its honorary citizen. The Comune di Pietrasanta reports that nearly 50 thousand people have seen the exhibition so far. Botero has made Pietrasanta, which is located on the northern coast of Tuscany, and is known as Italy’s Little Athens, his summer home – and studio. He has worked in the city’s marble laboratories and bronze foundries for over 40 years.
Friday, August 31st the exhibition will be open until 12, midnight.
The show is FREE and open to the public.
