“Past Forward” exhibition in Pietrasanta features the work of 15 artists linked to (and speaking to) Tuscany’s storied past

PH MICHELE ALBERTO SERENI

“Past Forward” is an exhibition of 15 contemporary artists, inextricably linked to Tuscany and its rich artistic traditions.

The artists use the past as starting point for explorations – in painting, sculpture, graphic works and video art – of what lies ahead. The show will fill the Church of Sant’Agostino – one of the most amazing exhibition spaces anywhere – and the Palazzo Panichi in Pietrasanta’s historic center.

Featured are Chiara Camoni, David Casini, Francesco Carone, Luca Gaddini, Zoè Gruni, Jacopo Milani, Margherita Moscardini, Giovanni Ozzola, Massimiliano Pelletti, Robert Pettena, Moira Ricci, Marco Salvetti, Eva Sauer, and Enrico Vezzi. The exhibition is not curated by theme, rather it sets out to lay open a linguistic, poetic and technical “research” into the lively dialectic between past and present, between tradition and innovation.

The show is produced by CAV, The Centro Arti Visive of Pietrasanta and is supported by grants from the Tuscany Region, as part of Toscanaincontemporanea.
