Il Tirreno reports that a group of environmentalists and members of the local hiking clubs placed a sign that read “Lets save the Apuan Alps” on the side of Mount Pania a mountain close to where the marble quarries (where Michelangelo got his marble 500 years ago) operate.

The event was part of a three-day initiative that saw the aforementioned hike from Lucca to the slopes of Mount Pania.
