And now for something completely different!

This weekend sees the start of the Screenings of DOCartoon 2103, Pietrasanta’s International Festival of the Animated Documentary and the Non-Fiction Comic.

Premiere Screening of Monty Python’s “Liar’s Autobiography” which tells the story – in the first-person and all completely fabricated – of Graham Chapman, one of the founding members of the English comedy group – who died from cancer in 1989. The film is made up of 17 animated shorts with texts from a tape-recorded by Graham Chapman before his death. The other Pythons – all save one – participated in the production.

Tickets: 4 euros for all the 8:45pm and 10:30pm screenings Friday and Saturday. 2 euros for screenings at all other times.

Also tonight:

Riccardo Mannelli shares his stories about “Nicaragua” his documentary reportage – in comic-book – form.
Friday at 6pm, at Bar AVIO

Gaia Bracco showcases her animations for songs by “Elio e le storie tese” – an Italian supergroup, as well as “History of the World in 4 minutes” with music by Daft Punk.
Friday at 8:45 at M.U.S.A.

The exhibitions of the comic book panels by Milo Manara and the others continue at the Palazzo Panichi and at the Paola Raffo Artecontemporanea Gallery.

DOCartoon 2013 – The Film Festival Screenings:

World-premiere screening of “Couleur de Peau: Miel” by Laurent Boileau and Jung Henin. The film won an award at the Annecy Film Festival this year. “La bimba col pugno chiuso” by the filmakers known as Todomodo is the story of Giovanna Marturano, once an anti-fascist and a Partigiana. “Prima la trama poi il fondo” by Fulvio Wetzl and Laura Bagnoli, about the life and work of the painter Renata Pfeiffer. “Costa Crociera” by the Canadian “anijam” collective led by Jeff Chiba Stearns – author of Yellow Sticky Notes.” The animations of Gaia Bracco for songs by the Italian supergroup Elio e le Storie Tese… it’sa sort-of world history leson in four minutes – which features the music of Daft Punk.
