Sotheby’s in New York will put on the block “Silver Car Crash,” from 1963, one of Andy’s painful “Death and Disaster” series, next Wednesday, the 13th of November.
The repeated image of the car crash echoes the prayer beads of the rosary, and the whole thing is some sort of Catholic expiation… or something, according to Sir John Richardson, from a fascinating interview on “SothebysTV” …
The black and white silkscreen is expected to be gone in no less than $60 … million.
… and for the “gosh, wow, gee factor” we post “Warhol’s Silver Car Crash (Double Disaster), 1963: A Conversation with Sir John Richardson” from SothebysTV’s youtube channel.
