The Henraux Foundation, born to honor with cultural and scientific projects the tradition of marble manufacture in the different fields of sculpture and design, architecture and decoration, advertises a public competition, reserved to young sculptors, for the participation to the “II Henraux International Sculpture A ward, in the memory of Erminio Cidonio”, to be held in the month of July 2014 at Henraux S.p.A . of Querceta.

The award was born in year 2012 according to the line of the very prestigious history of the company, that has always had in its custom and working method the collaboration with the great protagonists of modern and contemporary art, and the appreciation of young talents. The brightest example is referred to the passion and far -sightedness of Erminio Cidonio (the company’s managing director), who, since the beginning of the Sixties had invited at Henraux’s the most important sculptors of the time Henry Moore, Hans Jean Arp, Henri Georges Adam, Joan Miró, Georges V antongerloo, Emile Gilioli, F rancois Stahly , Antoine P oncet, Alicia P enalba, Morice Lipsi, Maria P apa, Jacques Lipchitz, Rosalda Giraldi, Isamu Noguchi and many other more,) making several works by them and throwing the basis for the institution of a sculpture museum.

In an historical phase of re-launching of the field and of the new , artistic interest shown by the always more frequent use of marble in the avant-gardes, the Foundation wants to attract and sustain young artists in the use of marble and in the drafting of works of intelligence, in which could be combined and renewed the ancient traditions of manufacture together with the new conceptual needs of the present creativity.
