Julia Vance, exhibits “Bøye Stein” at the Gallery Bærum Kunstforening, in Oslo, Norway. Her sculptures are harmonious wholes, tight forms driven by lines. There is an almost organic buoyancy within the pieces waiting to breathe and expand. She is a Norvegian sculptor, one of many international artists who’ve made Pietrasanta their creative home. She has a studio at Studio Sem’s.
Vance will exhibit 30 pieces, in marble, alabaster, granite and steel. The exhibiion is a retrospective of sorts, as the work spans ten years of her creative endeavor. Her work has been exhibited the world over, and is in public and private collections; one of her works is in the square in front of the Norwegian Parliament. She is a member of the Royal British Society of Sculptors.
The opening reception is this Saturday, the 5th of April, 2014 at 12 noon.
