“Pete Seeger’s Rainbow Quest – Johnny Cash and June Carter” (1966, Full Episode)

We post the last episode of Pete Seeger’s “Rainbow Quest,” a television series about – and made up of – folk music. The series was aired on small stations in some parts of the US, in the late sixties. This episode was not included on the first dvd re-issues by request of Pete Seeger himself, apparently because of Johnny Cash’s “condition” during the show. Everybody on set, for this episode, is politely “singing around” Johnny’s drug problem, Pete keeps up the mood and a weary eye out, the cameraman often excludes the restless Johnny from the shot, June boldly brings good cheer to a sad situation, but one can feel the pain in her eyes. The music is nothing short of spectacular. It’s a disturbing and fascinating document.
