A voyage of discovery into the “ways of marble” ______________ A guided tour of a marble quarry in Levigliani

Cava-Levigliani-Tour-Elisabetta-Ceragioli

There’s guided tours to the marble quarries above Carrara and Pietrasanta (you can get to some of the more striking quarries through several companies operating in the region, some of which are linked here.

We post pictures of one such tour, of the marble quarry in Levigliani, a small hillside village in the Comune of Stazzema, in the Provincia di Lucca. Levigliano enjoys mild weather and beautiful scenery. It’s on the slopes of Monte Corchia, home of the famous underground cavern the Antro della Corchia, Europe’s largest underground network of caves. … And that’s worth a tour of its own!

Visit the “Escursioni Apuane” to see more pictures, and for more info – the site is in Italian only… – linked here.

  1. I once got lost there, and drove through a one-way tunnel hewn through the mountain. That was quite an experience ) Would love to get there with a guide this year )
