Another week, another “Aperitivo con l’Artista” in Pietrasanta. This Tuesday, it’s the Brescia-based Giuseppe Bergomi who shares his story. There is no art-critic to mediate this aperitivo, rather Bergomi will speak directly about his journey as artist and approach to sculpture.
The sculptor won the Premio Camera dei Deputati in 1997; in the same year the Principato di Monaco acquires two of his monumental sculptures, in 2011 he participates in the 54th edition of the Venice Biennale, curated by the potty-mouthed Italian art critic Vittorio Sgarbi, and in 2012 he was the star of Pietrasanta’s Summer art season with a major exhibition of his work.
The sculptor lives with his wife Alma, in the Province of Brescia, but spends long periods in Pietrasanta where many of his sculptures are “born.” Pictured above is the artist (on the right) with Domenico Lombardi, Pietrasanta’s Mayor, during the ceremony for the donation of one of the artist’s plaster models to Pietrasanta, at the Museo dei Bozzetti.
Visit the Museo dei Bozzetti’s website, for more information on the artist, linked here.
The event is FREE and open to the public, the aperitivo is provided by Serendipity.
