“…Creation is, all else is naught … what is not creation is graham crackers…” ____________ Mouvement Gothique, October 2014 ____________ Art is Life

mouvement-gothique-art-is-life-blog-october-2014“I will talk to you of Art, for there is nothing else to talk about. For there is nothing else. Life is an obscure hobo, bumming a ride on the omnibus of Art. Burn gas buggies and whip your sour-cream of circumstance and hope, and sleep your bloody heads off” … or maybe do something else with your life… your Art.

October is upon us… the long shadows of Fall cast creepy-crawly figures on our personal, social … political world.

We at Art is Life celebrate the Harvest Festival – … we actually went harvesting grapes over the weekend… – and will take the month of October as excuse to post dark daydreams and ditties… we’ll start with Goya… whose nightmares about the living and the dead ring a clearer bell today than when he dreamt them…

Last year we posted gothic films and some goth music: we posted the trailer – that’s all we could find – to Andy Warhol’s Dracula… and Carnival of Souls, and Whistle and I’ll Come to You… some of our favorite spooky treats. This year we pledge to do our best to scare the be-jeezus out of you… as best we can…

You might be surprised, … you might be scared… you might just be annoyed that we take this detour through the Black Forest… but don’t be shy, dear reader, we appreciate your input… comments, and yes, even your curses, so please do write us, to let us know your thoughts, because: “creation is, all else is naught … what is not creation is graham crackers…”
